Nico Sacchetti
I was born in Montenero di Bisaccia on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, on Italy’s east coast, in 1945. After having completed my education and military service I came to England in 1968. I lived in London before moving to Iver Heath and in 1983 made my final move to Beaconsfield. From there, I ran my Italian family restaurant in New Denham for twenty-five years. My customers ranged from locals to many celebrities , including the late Princess Diana.
In 1998 I was invited to join the local Beaconsfield Independents Electors Association. What attracted me to the Independents was the fact that it was an Association without any party political leanings. I greatly enjoy the freedom of doing what I can for the community and our Town, without any party restraints and always try to judge each issue on its merits and with common sense.
I was elected Town Councillor in May 1998 and served until 2011. During this period I have been involved in many important projects including: water for the allotments and Nature Reserve; the refurbishment of the Oval Tennis Courts; CCTV; Christmas lights; security at Wooburn Green Sports Grounds and the upgrading of Walkwood and Geary’s Piece; the Open Spaces Committee. I also served on the main committee of the County Council Transportation Study for Beaconsfield.
In 1999/2000 I first filled the role of Deputy Chairman and then Chairman of Finance and General Works. In 2001 I had the privilege of been elected Town Mayor. During the year as Mayor I enjoyed meeting many local people and felt very proud to represent and work for the community as a whole.
Married to Jenny for 38 years, I have two married daughters and two grandchildren. In my spare time I enjoy golf, walking, theatre, travelling and looking after my family, especially my grandchildren.
