Henry Wilson
In 1965 my wife and I moved to Beaconsfield from Potters Bar, where I had served on the local council for three years. We have three children and six grandchildren. Our eldest son went to the Royal Grammar School in High Wycombe and the younger two were at Butlers Court from when it first opened. All three went on to university. I am a qualified Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA). I spent most of my career as a management consultant working within a wide range of industries and businesses. I served on the council of CIMA for 19 years and was particularly involved in the education and training of students and the further professional development of members.
As an Independent I served for four years on the Beaconsfield Town Council from 1991 and became chairman of the Finance and General Works Committee and then Deputy Mayor. I returned to the Council in 2003 and served as Mayor in 2008-9 but decided not to seek re-election this year. Whilst on the Council, I was honorary treasurer and very active in the Council’s financial affairs. I instigated the restoration of the Council owned land called Geary’s Piece and Meadow and supported the enhancement of play facilities in Malthouse Square. Environmental issues, waste disposal, parking in the Old Town are particular concerns of mine and I am very supportive of BOTRA and the work of the Beaconsfield Society in these matters
Apart from being a Town Councillorl I have been treasurer of a national charity and of a local residential home. I was a governor at Butlers Court School for ten years and founded the Beaconsfield Twinning Association in 1995. I am a member of the Society of Friends (Quakers). In 2009 I joined the Rotary Club of Beaconsfield and am now its treasurer. My wife and I enjoy being members of the Marlow Folk Dance Club, the Chiltern Society and BBOWT.
In my view there is no need for national party politics to be represented at Town Council level.
Members of the Beaconsfield Independent Electors Association have served the community very well and conscientiously as councillors on the Town Council and I feel privileged to have been involved.
