Beaconsfield Independent Electors Association

I have lived in the Beaconsfield West Ward for over 40 years with my wife Sue. We have two children, Emma and Robert who both went to local schools and have since left home. I am a qualified engineer and worked in the Communications Industry.

For the past 12 years I have been a Town Councillor and the last 8 years a District Councillor. I believe the connection between Town and District councils is very important especially because Town Councillors are close to the community but many decisions affecting Beaconsfield are taken at District level. In 2009 I was proud and privileged to have been elected Mayor of Beaconsfield.

During my terms of office as Town Councillor I have helped to increase the amenities in the Town. Recently, I developed the Beaconsfield Town Council website and was instrumental in the enhancement of the Wooburn Green Lane Sports Ground. I have also been involved in other projects providing better use of Town’s open spaces and enhancing the environment. I have been a member of both the Town and District Planning Committees. At District I have also served on the Licensing and Environment Committees. I am passionate about preserving the character of Beaconsfield; its character and history should be preserved for the community to enjoy.

In my spare time I have always been involved in community activities. These have included raising funds for the local playgroup, Chairman of the Beaconsfield School Parent Teachers Association and member of my local Neighbourhood Watch Association. I am a firm believer that local politics should be not controlled by major party politics. I have chosen to be an Independent Councillor because I can follow my beliefs supporting and proposing policies to the benefit of the Town’s people. I believe in democracy and open honest local government where Councils are made up of individuals who each represent their own views and those of the electorate they cannot and should not be guided by any party or other influence
