Joy Legg

Most of my working life has been spent in education ranging from primary, where I was a head teacher, through to further education. I am currently chairman of governors at Alfriston School.

I was appointed a magistrate for the Middlesex area and I am currently a chairman sitting at the Brent Magistrates Courts in North West London. I am also one of the chairmen of the North West London Family Panel and I sit on domestic violence cases. This work gives me a good appreciation of the difficulties many families face and the importance and need for good and affordable provision of local facilities.

My husband Archie and I moved into Beaconsfield because we liked the character of the Old Town, the facilities within the area and its location. I feel that the quality of facilities and the maintenance and improvement of the area are best provided by Independent councillors. They can represent the local people without being dictated to or governed by party politics. The Independent councillor should be the voice of the local inhabitants and not an echo of party headquarters. They are free to listen to the concerns of local people and address these issues without fear of disapproval from a political party.

It is for this reason that I support and am a member of the Independents at local level and I am delighted to have been elected to represent the South Ward in the recent elections.
